Dana Plato was an American actress best known for her role as Kimberly Drummond on the popular television sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," which aired from 1978 to 1986. She was born on November 7, 1964, in Maywood, California, and began her acting career at a young age.

Plato's role on "Diff'rent Strokes" made her a well-known figure in the 1980s, but she faced personal and professional challenges during and after the show's run. She struggled with substance abuse issues and legal problems, which affected her career. Her character was written out of the series in its final season.

Tragically, Dana Plato's life took a sad turn, and she faced financial difficulties and personal struggles. On May 8, 1999, she died of a drug overdose at the age of 34. Her untimely death was a significant event in the entertainment industry and brought attention to issues such as child stardom, addiction, and the challenges faced by actors when transitioning from successful TV roles to adulthood.
