Depeche Mode is a British electronic music band that formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The original members of the band were Dave Gahan (vocals), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Andrew Fletcher (keyboards), and Vince Clarke (keyboards). Vince Clarke left the band after the release of their debut album, "Speak & Spell," and was replaced by Alan Wilder.

The band achieved significant success in the 1980s and 1990s with their unique blend of synth-pop, new wave, and alternative rock. Some of their most popular and influential albums include "Violator," "Music for the Masses," and "Black Celebration."

Depeche Mode is known for their dark, atmospheric sound, introspective lyrics, and the distinctive baritone voice of lead singer Dave Gahan. The band has a dedicated fan base and has sold millions of records worldwide.
