Depeche Mode is a British electronic music band that formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The band's original lineup consisted of Dave Gahan (vocals), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Andy Fletcher (keyboards), and Vince Clarke (keyboards). Over the years, there have been lineup changes, with Alan Wilder joining the band in 1982 and Vince Clarke leaving shortly after their debut album.

Depeche Mode gained popularity in the 1980s with a string of successful albums, including "Speak & Spell," "Some Great Reward," and "Violator." Their music is known for its synthesis of electronic sounds, catchy melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics. Martin Gore is the primary songwriter for the band, and his introspective and often dark lyrics contribute to the band's distinctive sound.

Some of Depeche Mode's most well-known songs include "Just Can't Get Enough," "Personal Jesus," "Enjoy the Silence," and "Policy of Truth." The band has maintained a loyal fan base and has continued to release albums and tour throughout the years.
