Depeche Mode is a British electronic music band that formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The original members were Dave Gahan (lead vocals), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Andy Fletcher (keyboards), and Vince Clarke (keyboards). Vince Clarke left the band after the release of their debut album, "Speak & Spell" (1981), and was replaced by Alan Wilder.

Depeche Mode achieved significant success in the 1980s and 1990s with their unique blend of synth-pop, new wave, and alternative rock. Some of their most well-known albums include "Music for the Masses" (1987), "Violator" (1990), and "Songs of Faith and Devotion" (1993).

Hits like "Just Can't Get Enough," "Personal Jesus," "Enjoy the Silence," and "Policy of Truth" helped establish Depeche Mode as one of the most influential and enduring bands in the electronic music genre. Their music often explores dark and introspective themes, with Martin Gore primarily handling the songwriting duties.
