"Dragnet" is a 1987 American comedy film directed by Tom Mankiewicz. The film is a parody and adaptation of the popular 1950s and 1960s television series of the same name, "Dragnet," which originally starred Jack Webb as Sergeant Joe Friday. In the 1987 film, the character of Joe Friday is portrayed by Dan Aykroyd, and Tom Hanks plays his partner, Detective Pep Streebeck.

The film follows Friday and Streebeck as they investigate a series of bizarre and comedic crimes in Los Angeles. The plot combines elements of the original "Dragnet" series with contemporary humor and satire. It pokes fun at both the straight-laced, by-the-book approach of Joe Friday and the craziness of the crimes they are investigating.
