George Michael, whose full name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, was a British singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born on June 25, 1963, in East Finchley, London, and passed away on December 25, 2016, in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England.

Michael rose to fame in the 1980s as one half of the pop duo Wham!, alongside Andrew Ridgeley. Together, they achieved international success with hits like "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," "Careless Whisper," and "Last Christmas."

In the late 1980s, George Michael embarked on a highly successful solo career. His debut solo album, "Faith" (1987), produced several chart-topping hits, including the title track, "Father Figure," and "One More Try." The album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1989.

George Michael continued to release successful albums throughout his career, including "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1" (1990) and "Older" (1996). He was known for his soulful voice, songwriting talent, and contributions to the pop and R&B genres.
