Joe Namath, born on May 31, 1943, is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL). He is best known for his time with the New York Jets and his victory in Super Bowl III.

Namath played college football at the University of Alabama and gained fame for his impressive performance, earning him the nickname "Broadway Joe" due to his flashy style and off-field charisma. In 1965, he was drafted by both the NFL's St. Louis Cardinals and the AFL's New York Jets. He chose to sign with the Jets and played for them from 1965 to 1976.

Joe Namath's most significant achievement came in Super Bowl III in 1969 when the Jets faced the heavily favored Baltimore Colts. Namath famously guaranteed a victory and then led the Jets to a 16-7 win, solidifying his place in football history. He was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

Namath was a three-time AFL All-Star and a one-time Pro Bowler. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.
