Joe Namath, born on May 31, 1943, is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons, primarily with the New York Jets. He is best known for guaranteeing and then leading the Jets to victory in Super Bowl III, a game that is considered one of the biggest upsets in NFL history.

Namath played college football at the University of Alabama before being drafted by the New York Jets in the first round of the 1965 AFL Draft and the first round of the 1965 NFL Draft (he signed with the Jets). His charismatic personality, strong arm, and flamboyant lifestyle made him one of the most iconic and polarizing figures in the NFL during the 1960s and 1970s.

Namath's career achievements include being a five-time AFL All-Star, a two-time All-Pro, and he was named the AFL's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1968. He was also the Super Bowl III MVP and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After retiring from football, Namath transitioned into a successful career as a sports broadcaster and actor.
