Kiss is an American rock band formed in New York City in January 1973. The group rose to prominence in the mid-1970s with their elaborate live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, and pyrotechnics. The original lineup consisted of Paul Stanley (vocals and rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals and bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar and vocals), and Peter Criss (drums and vocals).

Kiss is known for its distinctive makeup and costumes, with each member adopting a unique persona. Paul Stanley is "The Starchild," Gene Simmons is "The Demon," Ace Frehley is "The Spaceman" or "Space Ace," and Peter Criss is "The Catman."

Some of Kiss's most well-known songs include "Rock and Roll All Nite," "Detroit Rock City," "Beth," and "I Was Made for Lovin' You." Over the years, the band has gone through various lineup changes, with different musicians taking on the roles of the original members.

Kiss has had a significant impact on the rock and metal genres and has achieved commercial success with numerous albums and tours throughout their career. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
