"Pay It Forward" is a 2000 American romantic drama film directed by Mimi Leder and based on the novel of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde. The movie stars Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, and Haley Joel Osment.

The story revolves around a young boy named Trevor McKinney (played by Haley Joel Osment), who is given a school assignment to come up with an idea that will change the world and put it into action. Inspired by his social studies teacher, Eugene Simonet (played by Kevin Spacey), Trevor devises the concept of "paying it forward" – where instead of repaying a favor, one would pay it forward to three new people. His actions lead to a ripple effect of kindness and generosity that impact the lives of many.

The film explores themes of empathy, compassion, and the power of small acts of kindness to make a difference in the world. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, "Pay It Forward" resonated with audiences for its heartfelt message and emotional performances.
