Pelé, whose full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, is a retired Brazilian professional football (soccer) player and is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. He was born on October 23, 1940, in Três Corações, Brazil. Pelé gained international recognition for his incredible skill, goal-scoring ability, and success on the field.

Pelé played the majority of his career with Santos FC in Brazil, where he won numerous domestic and international titles, including the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup. He also played for the New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League (NASL) during the later years of his career.

One of Pelé's most significant achievements came in 1958 when, at the age of 17, he played a crucial role in Brazil's victory in the FIFA World Cup. He went on to win two more World Cups with Brazil in 1962 and 1970, making him the only player to have won three World Cup titles.

Pelé was known for his incredible scoring ability, agility, and technical skills. Throughout his career, he scored over 1,000 professional goals, a remarkable feat. Pelé officially retired from professional football in 1977. Beyond his playing career, he has been a global ambassador for football and has been involved in various charitable and humanitarian activities.
