Stone Sour is an American rock band formed in 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa, by Corey Taylor (vocals) and Joel Ekman (drums). The band is known for blending hard rock, alternative metal, and post-grunge influences. It's best known as a side project of Corey Taylor, who is also the lead vocalist of Slipknot, though Stone Sour has its own distinct musical identity—generally more melodic and radio-friendly than Slipknot.

🔹 Hiatus and Current Status

In 2020, Corey Taylor announced that Stone Sour was on indefinite hiatus, as he shifted focus to his solo career and Slipknot. While the band never officially disbanded, there are currently no plans for new music or tours.

Though Slipknot and Stone Sour share members, their musical styles are distinct—Slipknot being far heavier and darker, while Stone Sour explores melody, storytelling, and broader rock influences.
