The Cure is a British rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1978. The band's original lineup consisted of Robert Smith (vocals, guitar), Lol Tolhurst (drums), and Michael Dempsey (bass). Over the years, the lineup has undergone several changes, with Robert Smith being the only constant member.

The Cure is known for its diverse and evolving musical style, ranging from post-punk and new wave to gothic rock and alternative rock. Some of their most well-known albums include "Three Imaginary Boys" (1979), "Seventeen Seconds" (1980), "Pornography" (1982), "Disintegration" (1989), and "Wish" (1992).

"Friday I'm in Love," "Lovesong," "Just Like Heaven," "Boys Don't Cry," and "Pictures of You" are among their most popular and recognizable songs. The band has had a significant impact on the alternative music scene and has maintained a dedicated fan base over the years.

Robert Smith, with his distinctive voice and unique appearance, has become an iconic figure in the world of alternative rock. The Cure's music often explores themes of love, melancholy, and introspection, contributing to their enduring appeal.
