"The Dark Knight Rises" is a superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan. It is the third and final installment of Nolan's Batman film trilogy, following "Batman Begins" (2005) and "The Dark Knight" (2008). The movie was released in 2012 and features Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside an ensemble cast including Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, and Michael Caine.

The story is set eight years after the events of "The Dark Knight." Batman has disappeared, and Bruce Wayne has retired from his role as the caped crusader. However, a new threat emerges in the form of Bane, a powerful and ruthless terrorist leader with a mysterious past. Bane seeks to destroy Gotham City and expose its corruption.

As Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement to face this new menace, he also encounters Selina Kyle (Catwoman), a skilled cat burglar with her own agenda. Throughout the film, themes of justice, sacrifice, and redemption are explored. The movie builds to an epic conclusion, involving a showdown between Batman and Bane, as well as the revelation of hidden truths about the League of Shadows and Bruce Wayne's past.

"The Dark Knight Rises" received positive reviews for its performances, direction, and visual effects, though some critics found it less compelling than its predecessor, "The Dark Knight." Despite this, it was a commercial success, grossing over a billion dollars worldwide. The film marked the end of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and left a lasting impact on the superhero genre.
