A metal acetate record, also known as an aluminum acetate record or lacquer disc. These were used primarily in the production of vinyl records. Metal acetate discs are created by coating a metal plate, usually aluminum, with a thin layer of lacquer. This lacquer can then be cut with a recording stylus to create grooves, capturing audio signals.
Metal acetate discs were often used in the mastering process of vinyl records. The audio would be recorded onto these discs, and then the discs would be used to create a metal master, which was further used to press the vinyl records.
These discs were a crucial part of the recording process, allowing for precise audio capture before the final pressing of vinyl records. However, they were not as durable as the final vinyl product and were primarily intended for short-term use in the manufacturing process.
The Smiths were a British rock band formed in Manchester in 1982, known for their distinctive sound that combined jangly guitars and introspective lyrics. The band consisted of Morrissey (vocals and lyrics) and Johnny Marr (guitar and songwriting), along with Andy Rourke (bass) and Mike Joyce (drums).
Their music often features themes of alienation, love, and social commentary, with Morrissey's poignant and often witty lyrics standing out. Some of their most beloved albums include The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, and The Queen Is Dead.
