"The Thing" is a science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter. It was released in 1982 and is a remake of the 1951 film "The Thing from Another World," which was based on the novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr. The 1982 version of "The Thing" is considered a classic in the horror genre.

The film is set in an isolated research station in Antarctica, where a group of scientists and researchers encounter a shape-shifting alien organism that can mimic any living thing it comes into contact with. As paranoia and distrust mount, the group must figure out who among them is still human and who might be a deadly alien imposter.
