Tin Machine was a rock band formed in 1988, featuring David Bowie, Reeves Gabrels (The Cure), Tony Sales, and Hunt Sales. The band was notable for its raw sound and departure from Bowie's more polished solo work. They aimed for a collaborative approach, with all members contributing to songwriting and performances.
Their self-titled debut album, Tin Machine, was released in 1989 and included tracks like "Heaven's on Fire" and "Prisoner of Love." The band's music blended hard rock with alternative influences, and they often explored themes of commercialism and artistic integrity.
Tin Machine was somewhat controversial, as some fans found it a departure from Bowie's established style. However, they gained a following for their energetic live shows. They released a second album, Tin Machine II, in 1991, before disbanding in the early '90s.
