U2 is a rock band from Dublin, Ireland, formed in 1976. The group consists of Bono (Paul Hewson) on vocals and rhythm guitar, The Edge (David Howell Evans) on lead guitar, Adam Clayton on bass guitar, and Larry Mullen Jr. on drums. U2 is known for their anthemic sound, socially conscious lyrics, and innovative use of technology in their music.

Their breakthrough came with the release of their 1983 album, War, which featured hits like "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year's Day." This was followed by The Joshua Tree in 1987, which solidified their global fame with songs like "With or Without You" and "Where the Streets Have No Name."

U2 is also renowned for their elaborate live performances and their ability to evolve their sound while maintaining their core identity. Their career has included numerous critically acclaimed albums, such as Achtung Baby (1991), All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000), and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (2004).

In addition to their musical success, U2 has been involved in various humanitarian and political causes, often using their platform to address issues like human rights, global poverty, and social justice.
