"WarGames" is a 1983 American science fiction film directed by John Badham. The movie stars Matthew Broderick as a young computer enthusiast named David Lightman and Ally Sheedy as his friend Jennifer Mack. The film's plot revolves around David Lightman accidentally hacking into a military supercomputer called WOPR (War Operation Plan Response) and almost triggering a nuclear war.

The story begins when David, a skilled computer hacker, stumbles upon a computer system connected to NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command). He believes he's accessing a computer game company's server, but he's unwittingly connected to the military's central computer, which controls the United States' nuclear weapons. David, along with Jennifer, inadvertently initiates a game of global thermonuclear war, thinking it's just a simulation. However, the military takes the threat seriously and believes the country is under attack.
